A family story, an experience to remember
This is how guests say goodbye, travelers arriving from every corner of the world.
And this is where the story of Abalto begins: a place with a soul in the historic heart of Lecce.
The name Abalto comes from the Latin ab alto, meaning “from above.”
From above, overlooking the city’s historic treasures, a constantly shifting spectacle of color and light unfolds. The view stretches across vibrant Piazza Sant’Oronzo, the Roman Amphitheatre, the column of the patron saint and the Duomo’s bell tower.
Beyond, the horizon opens to new perspectives and so much more that cannot be told, only lived.
Abalto’s roots reach back to the 19th century, when Palazzo Flaminio stood here, home to three generations of the family. An elegant Baroque palace overlooking the lively square, already the focal point of the city’s cultural and economic life.
In the second half of the 20th century, the palace gave way to the current rationalist building.
For many years, the penthouse remained silent – until 2020, when it was brought back to life.
After a respectful restoration, Federica and Marco, the family’s fourth generation, transformed this place of memory into a space of hospitality, honoring its past while embracing a contemporary vision.
Nestled in the front row of history, Abalto was born from the desire to create a special place where the experience reaches far beyond the stay.
«These words from Bonatti have accompanied us from the very beginning, when Abalto was still only an idea. We felt them in every window open to the view, and today they guide our vision of hospitality: to look beyond, to offer each guest a journey of emotions—so they may simply be well, feeling in the right place.»
